ChatGPT users: your chat can make the reel, not just the script.
On its own, ChatGPT writes captions and scripts and stops there. It cannot read your brand, render a video or put it on Instagram for your yes. Connected to Ootto, it can.
Ootto is not in ChatGPT's plugin directory yet, because OpenAI is still reviewing it. Until it is, you add it yourself as a custom server. It takes about two minutes, and every screen below was captured in chatgpt.com on 12 October 2026.
Before you start: what you need in ChatGPT
- An Ootto account. Sign up at ootto.ai and add your website or Instagram handle. That is how Ootto learns your brand.
- ChatGPT on the web. Use chatgpt.com on a computer for the setup.
- A plan that lets you add a custom server. We added Ootto on a free ChatGPT account on 12 October 2026. OpenAI's own help page describes custom servers under developer mode for Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces, where an admin may need to turn it on first (OpenAI help). If you do not see the option, check with your workspace admin.
ChatGPT users: add Ootto in nine steps
Open Plugins
In ChatGPT, open Plugins in the left sidebar.
Press Add
The Plugins page reads Connect plugins to let ChatGPT work across your tools. Press Add at the top right.
Add custom MCP server
The menu shows Create plugin, Upload plugin archive and Add custom MCP server. Choose Add custom MCP server.
Name and address
Name it Ootto. Under Connection keep Server URL and paste https://mcp.ootto.ai/mcp. Authentication fills in as OAuth by itself.
Tick, then create
Leave Advanced OAuth settings alone. Tick I understand and want to continue, then press Create as a plugin.
Continue to Ootto
ChatGPT shows Connect Ootto with what it can and cannot do. Press Continue to Ootto.
Sign in
Ootto's sign in page opens. Sign in with Google or your email, and you land back in ChatGPT. There is no key to copy.
Ootto is installed
Back on Plugins, the orange Ootto icon now sits under Installed.
Pick Ootto in a chat
In a new chat, press + in the message box and choose Ootto, Make and post Instagram reels for your business.
The description field is optional. We used "Make and post Instagram reels for your business", which is what shows next to Ootto in the + menu.
Your plugin shows your own ChatGPT name as the developer. That is normal for a custom server: it is private to you until Ootto is listed in the directory.
Prompts that work once Ootto is connected
Attach Ootto from the + menu, then start with this:

- Sign up at composio.dev and grab an API key from the dashboard
- This one's a Claude Code (terminal) connector - Composio hasn't published a Claude.ai web click-path for it
- Run: claude mcp add --transport http composio-composio "<your Composio MCP URL>" --headers "X-API-Key:<your key>"
- Restart Claude Code (exit, then claude) and confirm with claude mcp list
- First Composio tool call opens a browser link to authorize the Instagram toolkit - Claude then reads comments and posts without you touching tokens
3 · Retention patterns

- Downloads via yt-dlp (Instagram, YouTube, X, Vimeo, 1000+ sites), samples key frames with ffmpeg, transcribes with native captions or local faster-whisper

4 · Memory
A free, private notes app - your files stay on your machine as plain Markdown.
- Download it (free), create a vault - it's just a folder on your disk
- In Obsidian: Settings -> Community plugins -> Browse -> search "MCP Connector" -> Install -> Enable
- In the plugin's own settings, "Quick setup for clients" -> Download .mcpb and drag it onto Claude Desktop to auto-install (or "Copy config for Claude Desktop" and paste it into Claude Desktop's Settings -> Developer -> Edit Config, then restart)
- Point the skills at that vault so every script is written from your own proven patterns, not a blank page
5 · Render
Render the reel from the script your skills produced (a Node package).
- Scaffold a project: npx create-video@latest --yes --blank my-video, then cd my-video && npm i
- There's no Claude connector that renders for you - Remotion ships Agent Skills instead: npx skills add remotion-dev/skills drops best-practice rules into .claude/skills so Claude writes correct Remotion code
- Drop the script into a composition and render it yourself with npx remotion render <CompositionName> - that mp4 is what you post
